Arrived early at All-Con? Want to get a head start on the festivities? Be a contestant on “Buzzed Off!” Thursday evening!
Do you think you can sing? Dance? Tell a good joke or funny story? Let our panel of judges decide! Buzzed Off! is part talent show, part crazy free-for-all that is open to all comers. If you have a talent (or even if you don’t) we want to see you on our stage. Do your thing in front of the audience and our judges. If you find favor with our panel you will be awarded points and could win the Buzzed Off! trophy and other prizes. If the judges are not entertained you will be Buzzed Off! Every judge is equipped with buzzers and they will make their feelings known (via a shrill buzz) if they do not like your act.
Here’s how this all works:
Please arrive 10 to 20 minutes early to preregister your act. New acts will be admitted throughout the show on a first come, first served basis. Even if you are out in the audience and get inspired you can perform on stage and face our itchy buzzer fingered judges.
All acts are welcome. Past years featured song and dance routines, humorous story telling, a guy shaving off his beard (half of it anyway... he got Buzzed Off!), bad jokes, singing, hoola-hooping, and even a few impromptu attempts to woo our judges.
Please keep your act brief (remember, the longer you are on stage the more likely our judges will tire of you and hit their buzzer) and keep it clean (we have young 'uns in the audience after all).
Acts can be one individual or groups of two or more. Songs, dances, skits, comedy, acting, playing musical instruments, impressions, antidotes, and just about anything that might entertain the audience and most especially the judges is welcome. To keep Buzzed Off! fair to all participants, only one entry per person, even if part of a group, please.
