LAN and WAN gaming by: Gamewyze
Gamewyze is providing an exclusive room for LAN and WAN gaming at all hours of the day and late into the night. World of Warcraft, Battlefield 2, Warcraft 3, Quake 4, and Age of Empires 3 are only a few of the many titles which will be loaded to the network connected, internet attached machines.

Join your fellow gamers in challenging rounds of teamplay or one-on-one action.

Star Wars - Attack the Death Star, Take 1

In the early years of the Empire, a Separatist fleet attacks the first Death Star while it's under construction. A task force from the Imperial Navy must successfully defend it, or face you-know-who's wrath. Each player will command several capital ships, such as Star Destroyers or Separatist cruisers plus the fighter squadrons carried by those ships. The rules are an easy-to-learn / easy-to-play home-brew, and will be taught at the start of the event. Play time will be about 3 to 4 hours for 6 to 8 players.

A demonstration table will be set up in the main hallway Friday evening. Sunday morning at 11:00am ... LET THE ASSAULT BEGIN.

Makoto Arenas by: Lone Star Makoto
The Makoto arena is a triangle with 6-foot towers at each point. The player has 32 square feet of space to roam and defend. The game can be played individually or with teams of 2 or 3 people playing back to back.

Targets on each tower, indicated by lights and sounds, activate randomly. The goal is to hit the target before it goes dark. Players have between 1 and 3 seconds to strike, depending on the difficulty of the arena settings. As soon as one target is hit, another target — sometimes on the same tower, sometimes on another one — activates.

(Vampire images from BDG Entertainment's independent film: "Torment")

In Vampire Live Action Role Playing, all the characters play vampires. There is a lot of roleplaying, although combat and interaction has no actual physical contact between players. There are no props or costumes required to play, but costuming is always encouraged.

The games are set up to be very friendly to new players. The rules are explained before the game and any player is more than free to ask the many moderators to help with an issue during game play. Characters can be written that are more geared toward a new player (but is also the same power level of the rest of the characters). Click ... here ... for a primer about the world that the game is set in (which is basically modern day with supernatural elements added).

VLARP has distinction of allowing who are curious to watch first for a while, and then decide to join the game once it's in already in play.

"The rebellious and headstrong Brujah and the disciplined and powerful Ventrue have always been at odds with each other, but recently the trouble between the two clans has grown to dangerous proportions. In the North Texas region, the Ventrue/Brujah feud has almost become full-out war several times now.
That is why some of the wise Kindred of the Toreador clan have set up a conference of sorts in neutral territory far away from the Prince's domain, in hopes that the Brujah and Ventrue may finally work out their differences. But can such long-standing animosity and hostility be resolved in one evening? Is there a common ground between the two clans?
Also, who knows if unscrupulous but clever Kindred will take advantage of the chaos generated by two major clans at war. What does the future hold for the Ventrue, the Brujah, and the Camarilla as a whole?"

This years VLARP is being organized and written by David Doub, the same VLARP coordinator who presents at A*Kon in Dallas. If you have any questions for David, he may be reached at: ex_mutants @ hotmail.com

Generous gaming prizes for the VLARP have been contributed by White Wolf Publishing.
