Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, on a dark and stormy night there were solidly defined lines between science fiction, fantasy, romance, westerns, horror, YA/NA, and childrens books. Now we have western romance on a space ship, a fantasy romance for New Adults, Western Paranormal and M/M, F/M in various numbers in the group. Did authors/script writers just run out of solid genre ideas or is this a predictable outgrowth of more accessible publishing, bypassing agents and self-publishing?
